Markets

Paddy's Markets are Sydney's biggest market in the city. It's more mainstream in that the stalls stock new items, albeit cheap or discounted because of the lower overheads incurred as a result of having a temporary shop front. Some retailers use the markets to extend their reach to consumers and others to sell overstocked items at a discount. The very fresh fruit and veg is plentiful and at excellent prices making the markets worth a visit on a regular basis if your staying for a while.

Paddy's Markets are open from 9am - 5pm Thursday to Sunday. They are situated under Market City on the corner of Hay & Thomas Streets.

More Info - www.paddysmarkets.com.au

The Rocks Markets mainly trade in good quality crafts, homewares, arts and collectibles. The setting is magnificent and the pubs are good for a snack and a beer or if your looking for something more substantial, try one of the many first class restaurants nearby.

The Rocks markets are a short stroll north from Circular Quay railway station along George Street. They are held on both Saturday and Sunday every weekend from 10am to 5pm.

More Info - www.therocksmarket.com

Glebe Markets are the traditional alternative markets. Pre-loved clothing, arts, crafts and edible goodies are abundant. There is a good grassy area to let the kids loose in or it makes a good spot for a picnic. You'll find some pretty neat second-hand goods here and some not so neat.

The markets are open from 10am to 4pm every Saturday. The best way to get there is to get the 431, 432, 433 or 434 bus to Glebe Point Road in Glebe or, if your feeling extra energetic, the walk from Central railway station will take around 30 minutes.

More Info - www.glebemarkets.com.au

Bondi Markets have got the spot. If your looking to fill your day by going to the markets but don't actually want to spend the whole day at the markets, then Bondi is for you. Similar to Glebe in size and content, these markets have a good selection of pre-loved clothing and second-hand goods from electricals to hardware. When you've finished browsing retire to the beach or one of Bondi's many al fresco eateries.

The Bondi Beach markets are held in the Bondi Beach Public School Grounds on Campbell Parade and they are open every Sunday from 10am to 4pm. The best way to get there is to catch the 380 or 382 bus either from the city or Bondi Junction railway station.

More Info- www.bondimarkets.com.au

Balmain Markets are a tight squeeze in the grounds of the local church. The food takes over inside and the bric a brac has the beautiful treed courtyard pegged. Pre-loved clothes are abundant as are homewares, hand made candles and the like. If you can't find anything to spend your money on at the market, don't despair, Balmain is an excellent spot for a beer, a game of pool and a not so traditional pub lunch.

The markets are in the old church on the corner of Darling and Curtis Road and they are open from 8.30am to 4pm every Saturday. A novel way to get there is by ferry to either Darling Street or Thomas Street and then walk or catch the bus up Darling Street. Buses from the city are Routes are 441, 442 & 433 (via glebe). Route 445 also leaves from Canterbury Station to Balmain via Leichhardt.

More Info - www.balmainmarket.com.au

Rozelle Markets are situated at the Victoria Rd end of Darling St in the grounds of the Rozelle School. The markets are largely focused on secon-hand clothing, collectables and antiques with restrictions placed on stall holders ability to sell new items. Alternative therapies such as massage are available as well as Tarot readings.
