In 1991, Darren Wood thought he would buy a VW Combi van with his mate and grow his hair long and travel around Australia. 5 years later his younger brother Mark followed the path , minus the expensive VW Combi van, this time with a Kingswood station wagon. The seed was planted for both of them now and backpacking around Australia and the world was now a passion.

In 1999, after backpacking around for the previous years and seeing opportunities to do things better, they found their first property to start a 30 bed backpacker Hostel, with $2000 to buy some beds. 6 months later they opened their Original ‘ Woodduck Inn ‘ in one of their current locations in William Street, Sydney and have since opened a few more Hostels around Australia.
